Moving to Weert

If you are moving into Weert and know nobody here that can help you. Here are some tips and tricks on how to make your life easier with moving.

  • Renting a trailer

When you have your own car and would like to do the heavy lifting yourself for the move, renting a trailer could be a good alternative to save you some money. There are several handy websites such as Pak 'n Bak and  Boels which allow you to see the nearest trailer near your neighbourhood that you can pick up and rent. It ranges from €32 and above per day. The rates get cheaper as you rent them for several days.

With bowls.nl website you can change the language setting into English, so you can read through the specs and terms of rental better. It may worth looking at trailer with canopies as it rains a lot in the Netherlands!

Tips:

In case if you have to fill up some details and choose between particulier / zakelijk. Particulier means private, zakelijk means business.

  • Cleaning help and other handy work

This website, care.com list down some personal services with references on individual cleaning help that you can get as well as handyman and gardeners. Services range from €9 per hour.

Another website to take a look at is werkspot.nl, it's sort of like uber for handy work including cleaning. You will be able to submit your request for a quotation.

Other paperwork to take care of during your move is your relocation with the local town council (gemeente). You can report your move from four weeks (28 days) prior the move, to five days after the move. You need to indicate your moving date to the local town council. When you report your new address to the local town council, they will automatically sign you out from your previous address even if you are moving from a different town / city.

If you are moving to Weert from overseas and intend to live for at least four months period, you also need to register to Weert's town council within five days period. Please bring along your family and your valid visa and passport as everyone needs to be registered.

Don't forget to make an appointment before you drop into the town council for the registration process. You can make the appointment online via this link: https://afspraken.weert.nl/Internetafspraken/Home

Unfortunately, the appointment website is only available in Dutch language.
